For the inaugural exhibition of the New Museum's expanded building, Portia Zvavahera features in New Humans: Memories of the Future, which explores artists who have an 'enduring preoccupation with what it means to be human in the face of sweeping technological changes.'

Tanda rima, Portia Zvavahera's first institutional exhibition in South Africa, takes place at Norval Foundation. The show features new and recent works, under a title which translates from Shona as 'Chase away the darkness'.

Portia Zvavahera has her first institutional solo exhibition in Germany at the Fridericianum in Kassel. The show brings together works from between 2019 and 2024, 'offering a concentrated insight into Zvavahera's practice', highlighting it's emotional impact.

Hidden Battles/Hondo dzakavanzika, Portia Zvavahera's first institutional show in the US, takes place at ICA Boston. Comprising paintings centered around the theme of animals, the exhibition considers how they 'populate her work and the collective imagination'.  

Meleko Mokgosi and Portia Zvavahera feature in Mirror of the Mind: Figuration in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection at El Espacio 23. Divided into six sections, the show presents a broader conversation on the complexities of the self.

Portia Zvavahera presents Zvakazarurwa, a survey show spanning early and recent works at Kettle's Yard at the University of Cambridge. This, Zvavahera's first institutional solo exhibition in the UK, is curated by Tamar Garb, travelling to Edinburgh's Fruitmarket in 2025.

For her first institutional solo exhibition in France, Portia Zvavahera presents a monumental painting at Fondation Louis Vuitton. Her multi-panel, site-responsive work marks the 15th installation in the museum's Open Space series.

Travelling from Madrid, the exhibition 'traces the spiritual influence of women throughout history and across six continents, providing a dialogue with sculptures, sacred objects and contemporary works of art'.

Portia Zvavahera is included in Making Their Mark at the Shah Garg Foundation. Curated by Cecilia Alemani, the exhibition features the works of the 'most significant women artists from the last eight decades', highlighting how they 'rechart art history'.

Works by Penny Siopis and Portia Zvavahera are included in If You Look Hard Enough, You Can See Our Future: Selections of Contemporary South African Art from the Nando’s Art Collection. Curated by Laurie Ann, the exhibition features over 60 works that act as 'as visual documentation of forgotten images and histories'.

Portia Zvavahera takes part in My Last Will, an exhibition and book project curated by M+M, at Kunstsammlung Chemnitz. As its premise, 30 international contemporary artists engage with the concept of legacy and respond to the question, 'What remains?'. 

Portia Zvavahera and Neo Matloga are two of 16 'painters for the 21st century' in Brave New World at Museum de Fundatie. Curator Hans den Hartog Jager argues that painting today can be 'appealing and seductive, but often conveying a razor-sharp message'.

Portia Zvavahera features in I See You at Tiwani Contemporary. The exhibition of Zimbabwe-born artists aims to connect Harare to Lagos, and prompt a 'consideration of intra-continental exchange and friendship through contemporary reflections that manifest as performative, cooperative and spiritual'. 

Portia Zvahahera shows in the international exhibition of the 59th Venice Biennale, curated by Cecilia Alemani. Titled The Milk of Dreams, the exhibition spotlights 'symbiosis, solidarity and sisterhood'. Zvavahera showed in the Zimbabwean Pavilion in 2013.

Moshekwa Langa, Simphiwe Ndzube, Frida Orupabo, Penny Siopis, Barthélémy Toguo and Portia Zvavahera exhibit in Witness: Afro Perspectives from the Jorge M Pérez Collection at El Espacio 23. The show features over 100 works by artists from the region and its diaspora. 

Portia Zvavahera presents a solo exhibition of new paintings at David Zwirner titled Ndakavata pasi ndikamutswa nekuti anonditsigira. 

Portia Zvavahera features in The Power of My Hands at Musée d’Art Moderne. This exhibition of works by women artists forms part of Africa2020 Season, examining the relationships between 'memory, family, tradition, religion and imagination'.

Portia Zvavahera features in Psychic Wounds: On Art & Trauma at The Warehouse. The exhibition features over 60 artists creating 'new kinds of artworks that marshal consciousness of traumatic events and their cultural processing'.

Portia Zvavahera presents a solo exhibition titled Walk of Life at the Institute of Contemporary Art Indian Ocean (ICAIO). Combining recent and early works, exhibition 'traces important moments in the artist’s life, beginning with love, marriage and childbirth'.

De 11 Lijnen presents Portia Zvavahera and Gustav Klimt: A Dialogue. Featuring paintings by Zvavahera and drawings by Klimt, the exhibition foregrounds the overlapping threads in both artists' work spanning emotion, gesture and textiles.

Moshekwa Langa, Viviane Sassen and Portia Zvavahera exhibit at Andrew Kreps Gallery's 55 Walker space in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan. Organized in partnership by the two galleries, the exhibition explores new collaborative models and the ways in which practices can resonate across contexts.

Portia Zvavahera takes part in the sixth Lubumbashi Biennale titled Future Genealogies: Stories from the Equatorial Line. Zvavahera takes up a residency in the city's Theological Center, with the paintings produced over this period to be shown as part of the biennial.

Portia Zvavahera features in The Assassination of Leon Trotsky, a group exhibition at David Lewis Gallery. The show marks the gallery’s 5th anniversary.
